This is my second sword from Makoto. I can’t afford a Japanese made katana, and I practice battodo.
I like the weight distribution of this sword much better than my first. The suba is much lighter and the blade is heavier, allowing more power in the swing for cutting.
As you can see, it is a work of art and is very beautiful. Plus it is functional for my practice.
A sword like this deserves all the respect given to any battodo practitioner’s tool kit.
Much respect to the artisans who put so much skill, love and passion into their work.
As long as this level of quality persists into this kind of blade, I don’t see the need to buy an expensive Japanese katana.
Thank you to the Makoto sword-smiths, the people who make the sayas, sageo and psuka wraps, handles, painters, sharpeners and other team members who work so hard to produce such beauty and functionality. ♂️
